The first serious portriat I ever took was one similar to this one. It was for my first photoblog. I was using a 2 megapixel cost effective point and shoot digital. Desk lights were used as I obviously couldn't afford studio lights. I was satisfied with the photo, but not with the photo quality and I thus swore that I would reshoot it once I got a nicer camera. Well here it is. I still had to use desk lights so I pushed the iso to 500 so that Sean could hold still for 1/6 of a second while holding 45 lbs. I also changed the lighting and pose ever so slightly, and for the better I think. There was very little post processing as a result of the new lighting setup.
In case you were wondering, this is my little brother Sean. I couldn't have done this without him. Kuddos go out to Sean for helping me tweak the lighting and perfect the pose.
Perhaps someday Ill get some studio lights and I'll be able to make this photo like I really want to.
